No Ship Action Group Rejected By Voters
“The voters of the Central Coast delivered a blunt warning to No Ship Action Group candidates on the weekend...Do not attempt to get in the way of the scuttling of the ex-HMAS Adelaide” Said Sue Dengate, secretary of the Central Coast Artificial Reef Project (CCARP)
“It is clear that residents of the Central Coast know that the Adelaide is a great resource for The Central Coast, for jobs and for marine research and they weren’t fooled by the two candidates from Avoca” said Sue
"Michelle Meares attempt to take the seat of Terrigal failed miserably with only 3% of the vote (about the same as a donkey vote and the normal level of informal votes)” said Sue "and as for the campaign of Ben Smith for an Upper House seat, on day two of counting he did not even score enough votes to show on the Electoral Commission web-site as having had any votes cast for him across the whole of NSW”
“This lack of votes is just another sign that the residents of Avoca and the rest of the Central Coast are tired of the antics being played out by the no ship group and as for their bad taste of taking a coffin into Sydney, this was deplorable and another blight that NSAG have put on the Central Coast” said Sue
"Experienced political commentators were saying over a year ago that the whole No Ship thing was not about pollution, but about getting a political platform for a few people. Well the voters have seen right through that"
"With only two weeks to go till the Adelaide belongs to the Central Coast, the excitement is building" said Ms Dengate.
“Only 15 Days To Go”
“We would also like to re-affirm the ex-HMAS Adelaide’s motto”
“United for the Common Good”
