New Scuttling Date Announced, Adelaide Meets All Legal Requirements - Precautionary Work Completed in March

“At last we have our new date to scuttle the ex HMAS Adelaide” said Sue Dengate, secretary of The Central Coast Artificial Reef Project (CCARP)

The Adelaide WILL BE SCUTTLED will be on the 13th April 2011 and we thank the State Government for continuing with this project” said Sue

“The already massive support for the project by residents of the Central Coast  will now reach fever pitch as people come to the reality that it is finally going to happen ” Said Sue Dengate “We were constantly being asked when are they going to sink it. Well, now we know and it’s time to get ready!”

“With the scuttling of the Adelaide now lodged again, the students from the Marine Biology section of Ourimbah University who are doing their master’s degrees on the Adelaide project, will now be able to finish off papers that have had to be put on hold and lecturers can now plan more projects using this wonderful new resource” said Sue

“Our small group of 7 individuals has begun popping the champagne corks and excitedly awaiting the big spectacle and we look forward to our mission of this wonderful tourist attraction for the Central Coast come to fruition.” Sue said

“We have been in contact with some of the ex crew of the Adelaide and they are really looking forward to seeing their ship have a dignified finale to her illustrious career” Said Sue “and I have dusted off a ceremonial bottle of HMAS Adelaide 10 year anniversary port that my son gave me when he served on the HMAS Adelaide. We are going to open it and drink from Adelaide engraved glasses as she sinks to her new home on the ocean floor off Terrigal / Avoca” Said Sue

“JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE REST OF THE CENTRAL COAST, WE CAN’T WAIT!!!!!”

“We would also like to re-affirm the ex-HMAS Adelaide’s motto”
