CCARP thanks supporters of The Adelaide Project with the Sea Dumping Permit now signed.
"The Central Coast Artificial Reef Project (CCARP) would sincerely like to thank all those who have supported our project over the last ten years” said Sue Dengate. Our mission was to acquire an ex naval vessel, clean, strip and conduct the necessary modifications and sink her in a predetermined position off the Central Coast of NSW and in 2002 our surveys confirmed the present site - South of Terrigal, off Avoca” Sue Dengate said
Now that the sea dumping permit has been signed, it’s ‘all ahead full’ for the Central Coast to benefit from this magnificent attraction,” said Sue.
“The creation of the Adelaide artificial Reef will bring rare experiences which will enhance our State’s profile and the complement the existing attractions of the Central Coast and surrounding environs.
This attraction will significantly increase the number of International and Interstate visitors, which of course will produce an economic benefit to the State and particularly the Central Coast. In addition the establishment of the artificial reef will be an excellent opportunity to conduct detailed and long-term scientific work in the field of Marine Biology.” Sue Dengate said
“The Adelaide will create the evolution of a new marine habitat, a ‘fish nursery’ to replenish local reefs and it will be an educational resource for our University campus at Ourimbah and local High Schools” said Sue Dengate
“We look forward to seeing The Adelaide start a new life on Saturday and with us will be members of her past crew who will have bitter-sweet feelings about seeing her go to her new resting place. We will however, keep them posted with photos of her transformations over the years” Sue Dengate said.
“We are very excited!”
